As promised, we are keeping our members updated every step of the way as we proceed with amalgamation talks with Erie North Shore Minor Hockey. Last night both associations voted with an overwhelming yes to proceed in the process. So what comes next?
It's important to note that the "yes" vote does
not mean our associations are automatically merged and this is a done deal. It
is a very big and important step in the process, but there is much
work still to be done. Now that we have the membership's support on both sides,
the real work begins.
From here, the boards will work together on compiling the
documents needed in order to submit an application to OMHA for
amalgamation of our 2 centres. This will be submitted in the Fall for OMHA
consideration. The final decision rests in their hands.
To make information more accessible and streamlined, we will
be creating a separate tab on our webpage for Amalgamation updates and Q
and A from our membership, which we will continue to update as we receive
questions. There will also be a link to submit questions to the board.
We will continue to keep you in the loop and look forward to
a long and successful partnership with our Erie North Shore neighbors.
